余艾冰教授于1963年1月生于廣東開平。1982年獲中國東北工學(xué)院（現(xiàn)東北大學(xué)）學(xué)士學(xué)位，1985年獲碩士學(xué)位。1990年獲澳大利亞伍侖貢大學(xué)博士學(xué)位。1990至1992年在澳大利亞聯(lián)邦科學(xué)與工業(yè)研究機(jī)構(gòu)(CSIRO)礦物與過程工程所從事博士后研究。后執(zhí)教于新南威爾士大學(xué)材料科學(xué)與工程學(xué)院，歷任講師(1992-1995)、高級講師(1995-1998)、副教授(1998-2001)，教授(2001-)及大學(xué)杰出教授（2007-2014）。他曾兼任學(xué)�；驀�家研究中心領(lǐng)導(dǎo)，包括新南威爾士大學(xué)顆粒體系仿真與模擬研究中心主任,澳大利亞功能納米材料研究中心副主任,寶鋼澳大利亞研發(fā)中心技術(shù)委員會主任,中澳礦物、冶金和材料聯(lián)合研究中心主任等職。2014五月起任澳大利亞蒙納士大學(xué)副校長，并兼任兼蒙納士大學(xué)蘇州校區(qū)校長和蒙納士大學(xué)-東南大學(xué)聯(lián)合研究院院長。最近，創(chuàng)立了澳大利亞顆粒技術(shù)仿真與模擬研究中心和江蘇省產(chǎn)業(yè)研究院工業(yè)過程模擬與優(yōu)化研究所。

余教授是顆�？茖W(xué)與技術(shù)和過程工程領(lǐng)域杰出的科學(xué)家，是顆粒填充、顆粒及多相流、以及計(jì)算機(jī)模擬與仿真多個(gè)研究領(lǐng)域的權(quán)威。他至今已發(fā)表900余篇學(xué)術(shù)論文（其中超過600篇發(fā)表于SCI國際學(xué)術(shù)期刊), 為不同的國際學(xué)術(shù)會議作了數(shù)十次大會特邀主題報(bào)告。其科研成果已被廣泛應(yīng)用于冶金、材料、化工和礦物加工工業(yè),同中國、澳大利亞和許多國家的研究機(jī)構(gòu)及許多跨國公司建立了高層次的緊密的合作伙伴關(guān)系。為新南威爾士及蒙納士大學(xué)直接吸引了超過7500萬澳元的科研經(jīng)費(fèi)(包括五十多項(xiàng)研究基金項(xiàng)目），已經(jīng)培養(yǎng)超過40多名博士后、80多名博士及20多名碩士；目前直接領(lǐng)導(dǎo)著一個(gè)由十五位教研人員及三十多名研究生組成的世界級的研究團(tuán)隊(duì)。曾成功組織了多次國際學(xué)術(shù)會議，并參予組織了數(shù)十次國際、國內(nèi)學(xué)術(shù)會議。他目前是Powder Technology期刊的執(zhí)行編輯，Handbook of Powder Science and Engineering的主編, 在其研究領(lǐng)域內(nèi)曾任超過20個(gè)學(xué)術(shù)期刊任編委，包括Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Research, Powder Technology, Granular Matter, ISIJ International, National Science Review等。

余教授先后榮獲多個(gè)澳大利亞國家級獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)及學(xué)術(shù)稱號,其中包括CSIRO博士后研究員（1990-91），ARC伊麗莎白二世研究員(1993-97)和澳大利亞國家教授(2005-09)。2007年被新南威爾士大學(xué)任命為Scientia Professorship(杰出教授）和授予科學(xué)博士（Doctor of Science）學(xué)位。2008-2013年被澳大利亞聯(lián)邦政府任命為澳大利亞學(xué)術(shù)地位最高的聯(lián)邦教授（ARC Federation Fellow）。2002年獲美國鋼鐵協(xié)會Josef Kapitan獎(jiǎng); 2010年榮獲澳大利亞科學(xué)院應(yīng)用科學(xué)領(lǐng)域終身成就獎(jiǎng)-伊恩沃克獎(jiǎng)?wù)?span lang="EN-US" style="line-height: 1.5em;">(Ian Wark Medal and Lecture),新南威爾士州2010年度科學(xué)家稱號,以及由澳紐化工專業(yè)協(xié)會授予的2010 ExxonMobile大獎(jiǎng); 2011年被澳大利亞工程師學(xué)會選入前100位學(xué)術(shù)、科研及企業(yè)界最有影響的工程師。2016年被Elsevier選入化工領(lǐng)域高被引學(xué)者。

余教授于2004年當(dāng)選為澳大利亞工程院院士，2011年當(dāng)選為澳大利亞科學(xué)院院士，是澳大利亞極少的具有工程背景的雙院院士之一。他在兩院曾任不同職務(wù)，包括澳大利亞工程院理事會委員、新南威爾士州分院名譽(yù)秘書長(即分院副院長)，澳大利亞科學(xué)院應(yīng)用物理與工程科學(xué)學(xué)部委員會委員（兼主任委員）、新南威爾士州分院院長等職。

余教授現(xiàn)任或曾任澳大利亞國家研究基金專家評委,澳大利亞研究質(zhì)量評審委員會委員，澳大利亞國家功能納米材料先進(jìn)中心副主任，中澳礦物、冶金和材料聯(lián)合研究中心主任（澳大利亞政府成立的六個(gè)研究中心之一），澳大利亞顆粒學(xué)會秘書長，澳大利亞海外獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金專家評委，澳大利亞-中國海外研究基金專家評委;中國科學(xué)院海外評審專家,長江教授海外評審專家,全澳華人專家學(xué)者聯(lián)合會主席,中國國務(wù)院僑辦專家咨詢委員會委員，中華全國華僑特聘專家，北京和廣州市海外科技顧問，江蘇省海外交流協(xié)會名譽(yù)會長,福建龍凈海外首席專家和寶鋼集團(tuán)寶鋼教授等職。

余教授2017年當(dāng)選為中國工程院外籍院士。

Over 1,000 publications including 13 edited books, special issues and conference proceedings, >650 papers in learned journals and book chapters, and >300 papers in conference proceedings mainly in the fields of particle science and technology, and process engineering, plus 13 patents (please see the list of publications at the back for details). To date (Jan 2018), the number of citations for his 623 collected SCI publications is >14,834, with an h-index at 56 according to the ISI Web of Science (according to the Google Scholar: citations=22,482, h-index=69, and i10-index=386). This number is extremely high in mineral/metallurgical/chemical engineering science.
